On February 18, 2018, we launched our family business restaurant-bistro cafe in our city Lviv in Ukraine with our last funds available in our bank account. We kept searching for almost a month to find a nice spot, we signed the lease agreement and after 3 months of renovation and interior fit-out, we opened our doors finally. It was not easy and smooth at the beginning same as every new business, especially in the food industry.
First 6 months was very tough on us, but, with hard-working and sweat we made it through till the end of the tunnel, our business started to be more smooth and stable, we were receiving new clients daily alongside with our repeated loyal ones. We recruited more staff and our business family started to grow the same as our plans for expansion and opening another branch. After few months we found another hot spot for our second branch, but our savings was not enough to go for it, Therefore we applied to the bank for a loan and we got approval within hours due to our good reputation in market alongside our good bank points record. After a week later we signed the new premises rental agreement and after 2 months of renovation and fit-out, we opened our second branch doors by December 18, 2019.
The bank loan was up to 12 months with a high percentage fee, but we took it as it was 100% feasible for us to pay without questions to ask. We received the new year of 2020 with great hope and new dreams to achieve. We recruited more people to join our business family in order to keep the high level of customer service we always provided for the last 2 years.
As we all know Corona Virus appeared by the beginning of the year * FORCE MAJEURE * and here we started to face the unexpected, We had to close our doors to visitors as per the law to contain the virus. At a later stage they allowed us to work only as a takeaway and delivery regime only which was 15% of our daily income. Clients were not allowed to enter our premises at all until this moment as well as I write my story.
We start to fall back and we could not maintain to cover our overhead and loan payments at the same time. The impact was tough on us the same as on everyone around the world, We spent all our savings again to cover up the salaries, suppliers' payments, utilities, and both locations rent with some of the loan payment. We are back again to ZERO the same places where we started in 2018 with no money left and an empty bank account.
I tried everything in my power to maintain my business and keep standing but now I can't do anything anymore. We always say " I want, you want and GOD do what he wants'. I did whatever it can be done to secure this business which is the only source of income of my family and the 16 people helping us between kitchen staff, waters, and delivery guys.
We received a letter from the bank that in case of further delay of payment, they will take our kitchen equipment and the 3 delivery scooters we have, These equipment were the guarantee against the loan we took. I really have no options anymore, if the bank takes over everything it means the end of us and for this family business.
I need help, I truly need your help whoever you are and where ever you are.
Please help with whatever you can. We greatly appreciate everyone and thank you for standing with us these difficult times.
We are not asking much , if anyone consider buying a Sandwich from us which cost from 2 to 4$ it will save our family .business
Thank you all.
