Hi there. My name is Jen and I am a professional musician, flutist and teacher.

In January of 2011, my vintage Powell flute was stolen whilst I was traveling by train back to London. That flute had been in my life for over twenty years and losing it was quite a blow for me. Moreover, due to the fact that I was moving and transfering insurance policies at the time, it happened during a short gap of coverage, so I was unable to claim for insurance.

I have held out in the hope that my flute would be found and eventually returned to me, but after almost four years without a proper instrument to play (I am playing an old student flute now), I have had to limit the playing jobs I can take. I have hoped that my flute would be located and eventually returned to me, but I am now to the point where I need to investigate options to replace my instrument.

To replace my Powell with a similar flute would cost anywhere from £6000 to £9000. However, I believe that I can find a good instrument that I could play professionally in the price range of £2500-£3000. As a working teacher and musician here in London, the cost of living and paying my bills has made it very difficult for me to save money or raise funds to do this. I am hoping that if enough people could pool together just a bit, I might be able to raise some money and get my flute playing career off the ground again.

Thank you very much for your support!
