I have always dreamed of living in the bushveld when I retire and after retiring last year with a small pension I was offered the opportunity to live on a bushveld farm (complete peace and tranquility with wild game in the area)

Being a “young” retiree I always found it more comforting being with nature, visiting and holidaying on game farms, nature reserves, etc. and as such the move to the farm came naturally and I have adapted with ease to the quiet and restful bushveld. It has contributed to a healthier and less stressful lifestyle.

Being surrounded completely by a large game reserve and to get the farm one has to drive thru the reserve,it offers lots of opportunities to see game like wildebeest, giraffe, large buck species and even elephants on occasions. Here on the farm one can listen in peace to the sounds of a variety of birds and game like the bark of the Kudu or the scream of the baboons. Warthogs, guineafowl, hares, vervet monkeys, variety of small antilope all abound and one often see them close by the cabin. I have the pleasure of having a family of pheasants around, regularly pitching up for some feeding in the morning and late afternoon

The only proviso was that whatever it cost to make it

habitable would be for my own account.

I started renovating the stone cabin in October last year

and have completed it to the point where it is habitable

with running water

and utilizing a solar geyser and gas stove and gas fridge

The cabin is currently divided in two with a shower/toilet/washbasin area and a bedroom doubling as a kitchen and living room as well.

The next phase will be to add on the kitchen and living room area where the veranda is now

and build a storeroom and carport at the bottom of the driveway

I would like to invite you to share in this amazing experience of creating a haven of joy and happiness, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the bush and listening to the sounds away from the city madness by contributing whatever amount you can to the completion of the home so that once completed you may like to visit to see what your contribution achieved in creating a little bit of heaven.
