I've been writting this book for the past 5 years now, so it has been quite a long journey. Kept re-writting it, adding more stuff to make it better.
(I'm going to write a little about the book, then about my life as a writer, so skip to the bottom if you're just interested in donating)
The book is about a war between these 2 countries ; Fenetia and Tamaria. Lotsa palace intrigues, just like in Game of Thrones, cool battle scenes. It's set in the 1600s, so it's kinda medieval, like most fantasy books, but I wanted guns in my story.
The
actual war/battle itself begins 3/4 into the book ; of course,
the book itself isn't just fighting scenes and action alone.
There are a few love scenes ; a few funny parts ; a few philosophical parts
I
wanted to become a Catholic priest when I was 20 (pre-Vatican II
rite), and took some church history courses at university ;
so you can learn some theology from this book, also survivalism tips
(surviving in the forest) and historical trivia.
Myself, I believe in God, and living close to mother nature, small scale communities and tech-bad, that kinda line of thought.
Nevertheless, in my writtings, I try to be impartial. Each major character in my book has a different worldview (communist, nationalist, conservative/liberal etc. etc.) I just try to narrate it all from above, and make each character as naturally sounding as possible.
The whole book runs like a theatrical play, actually ; lotsa dialogue and action ; I prefer cutting straight to the chase, rather than writting 4 pages about "how beautiful are these mountains"
If you want to read a chapter of my book, feel free to email me at ; [email protected]
I'm always keen on listening to feedback.
Smth about myself ; my dad's an ex service man (Queen's Own Rifles), my parents are from Canada, but we've been living in Poland for the past 25 years, working as English teachers.
As for myself, I worked all kindsa jobs ; worked warehouses, and as a cashier in a few shops ; did some construction, and I was homeless for a year ; I quit my university studies (history) and hitchiked to Spain, lived there for a while, did some dumpster-diving and slept in my tent ; cool times.
Started teaching kids English, 6-12 yrs old, in Poland, back in 2018, met a nice girl, and wanted to get married. Then the coronavirus came ; I lost my job in May, 2020, and had a pretty nasty break-up.
The corona hit my family pretty severely.
My sister tried to kill herself twice, and now she has a ruined stomach ; I myself had a mental breakdown, and ended up in a psycho ward for 10 days.
I met this girl there, who cut her wrist so that she disfigured her arm (it's hard to explain it with words)
Then I said to myself, to hell with earning money, I'm going to write this book and try to help these people out, you dig ?
I just hope this book works out alright, cause I put so much time and effort into it. Maybe I'll be able to give some people some good life advise ^_^
Right now I'm working part time and focusing on writting (the book's ready, but needs some grammar checks etc. etc.) I just want to wrap it up as quickly as possible, so I can focus on finding a job full time, and rent an apartment for me and my sister (she's still living with my psychotic mother right now, and I want to help her) Hopefully I'll be able to find some good people, who would be willing to help me with this endeavour.
Now, concerning funding the book.
I met this professional voice actor from America, who's willing to narrate the whole book for a 1000 dollars. I could do it myself, I suppose, but I don't have much of an English accent, so the American guy is the better option, I believe. He can voice 10 different characters, and I know I can't do that ! :D
My sister also offered to make coloured drawings for the book ; for 15 euro each. If I managed to collect 600 euro, we could have 40 drawings ; 2 per chapter. I can send you samples of her artwork, if you contact me at ; [email protected] She's really good.
Also, concerning printing the actual book ; I can print them quite cheap in Poland, a 1000 copies for 2000 euros. (hard cover) (2 euros per book)
I don't expect a 1000 people to buy my book straight off the bat, and printing, for example, 10 copies, would cost me 10 euros per book. So it's more affordable to print in big numbers, and then sell them over the course of a few months.
I'm also planning to give the book away for free on the internet, with optional donations ; I'd just like my possitive message to "be out there" :)
Anyhow, thanks up tops for any donations. The more money I manage to collect, the more options I will have available (audiobook, e-book on Amazon, drawings) I'm barely managing to make ends-meet at the moment, giving online English lessons, and if each person tipped in 5 dollars, then 720 people could gather 3600 dollars/euros pretty quickly.
Otherwise, I fear it might take me another year or two, or who knows how long, before I'll have a shot at publishing this book.
Kind regards, again ^_^
