to anyone who is reading this right now, i need to ask you something. have you ever had a dream? something calling to you, screaming your name and sweeping you away into thought like a raging hurricane... well, my dream is to be a clinical psychologist.

from the age of eleven, i was diagnosed with depression and insomnia. my life was a mess of bullying and counselling sessions. every week was spent in a room with a therapist, talking and crying, as i tried to wrap my head around my diagnoses.

naturally, as a growing mind does, i tried to expand my knowledge. I researched mental health, taking books on psychology from the school library and spending my lunch times reading and re-reading every detail on what mental health is and how the brain works.

At the age of 14, after having a total of 9 counsellors and therapists at once and dealing with bullying in school, i transferred to a new school. my mental disorder took over the better of me, and i lost interest in subjects, failed to attend lessons or hand in homework. i spent most days in the school counsellors office or in the medical room crying or sleeping. i was put on medication, both anti depressants and sleeping pills, but neither seemed to be helping.

At 15 i was put in the hospital for two weeks, after an attempted suicide, where i sat in isolation, the only human connection i had was with judgemental nurses and solemn family members.

After missing almost an entire year of work, i knuckled down in the last five weeks before my GCSE's and learnt everything on the syllabus for the last 2 years, and managed to get an average of A-B grades.

Now, at age 16, having finally come to terms with my mental disorders and come out the other end a much stronger person, i have decided that i want to help the people like me. The ones who struggle in silence, who need attention and guidance and support through their times of hardship. As well as taking online psychology courses to further my knowledge, i am also taking a course on Health and Social Care at college, in which i need books on psychology, sociology, medicine, management of diseases and a few more key subjects.

I have two sisters and a single mother, who works two jobs, one of which is very heavy labour, with low income. She can hardly afford to put food on our table every night, and i don't want my dreams to be a burden on her life.

All i am asking for is a small donation, hopefully to get enough money to buy the books i need. Usually i wouldn't result to asking strangers to take a chance on me, but i have no other options.

I have fought so hard to get to the place in life where i want to be, and i don't want something like a lack of money to send everything tumbling down.

Thank you so much for your time, and thank you to anyone who sends a donation. Every donation given will receive a written message stating my gratitude and giving information on the book i will buy with the money i have received.
