Help me make a difference

I bet you know it. The urge to make a difference. The need to feel like you matter to te world. Pherhaps this particular feeling is what drove you to explore this funding website, or perhaps you have dealed with this feeling in other ways.

For me this feeling has been growing for the past couple of years, and now that I have finally graduated high school I have decided to do something with it. I decided to take a gap year and work my but of so I would be able to go and volunteer in countries where help is much needed. I did my reasearch and found an amazing programme that will enable me to participate in three diverse volunteer programs: first a month of English teaching in Sri Lanka, then a month of helping disabled children in India and finally participating in a wildlife rescue programme in Bali. This will enable me to make a difference in different fields which I find very important. And although I know that in this three months I won't change the world, I know that even helping a tiny part of the world will make a lot of difference to a lot of people.

But however amazing this sounds, it is very, very expensive to do volunteerwork. Besides the flights and accomodation etc. that have to be payed, there is also the fact that I will be volunteering for five days a week which will make it impossible to earn some money on the side.

In order to afford this volunteering I am currently working three jobs and at least 40 hours a week. And although this makes a great start, as an 18 year old graduate earning minimum wage, it is extremely difficult to make enough money to do such a big thing.

That is why I want to ask you if there is any chance that you are able to make make a small gesture and help make that tiny bit of difference that will help the world become a better place eventually. Because a lot of amazing small bits wil together make a grandiose impact.
