I will be embarking on medical trips and community work in developing countries with Agape Volunteers and International Volunteer HQ. This has long been a dream of mine since I was a child. I will be working in clinics and hospitals assisting the doctors with examinations, dressing wounds, doing vaccinations and other tasks as needed. One of the projects that I am very interested in is the Special Needs program for adults and children. There is a huge stigma in many parts of the world and this group frequently gets abandoned. I will be assisting in their care, health needs and educating the community. I will also be participating in women's empowerment classes to help give them tools to escape poverty and to educate them on health, hygiene and nutrition. My dream is to work for 4 weeks each in different communities in Kenya, India, Nepal, Thailand and other countries. I am also interested in doing some conservation trips working with elephants, on game reserves and other wildlife projects. As contradictory as it sounds, volunteering is not free. There are expenses such as flights and program fees that go to house and feed me as well as miscellaneous costs for visas, transportation and such. Part of the fees goes to support the projects and provide supplies for the community and workers. Any support you are able to donate is greatly appreciated. I will have a blog that you will be able to go to for updates and pictures of my adventures and challenges. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
