Overview

I am fundraising to be able to volunteer at the Lion Conservation Project in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. At one point there were over 200k African Lions roaming the wild. That number has decreased significantly to about 32k. Because of this, the project takes part in the 4 step lion release program. This allows the lions to repopulate by breeding and being released back into the wild. This project requires many volunteers. That's where you and I come in! I don't come from a family with millions so I am looking to raise money for the trip. All donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

• Who am I?

Hello! I am Montanna Holliday. If you're reading this, you might already know me. If not, hello and nice to meet you! I am an 18 year old pre veterinarian student at the University of California, Los Angeles. I have a crazy passion for helping animals. My lifelong goal is to become a wildlife animal veterinarian and someday open up a rehabilitation center for them!

• What's my favorite animal?

I love all animals but my favorite is the koala! I love them so much I got a tattoo of one. They are the absolute loves of my life. My dog actually looks like one. How ironic?

• Why do I want to be a vet with wild animals?

I'm not exactly sure. I have always loved animals. All animals. I have always been fascinated by wild animals though. Maybe it's because they aren't fed dog/cat food. They actually have a natural habitat outside of a living room couch or walk around the block.

• What will I do on my trip?

I will do my share in taking care of the lions and their cubs. This includes feeding, walking, bathing, and playing with the lions. I will also help teachers and other volunteers teach up to 60 children in a local school!

• Will their be any education?

Of course! I will learn about the lions' habitat and ecology. I will also learn how to collect and analyze research data.

• Where am I going? When? For how long?

I am going to the Lion Conservation in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for 2 weeks.

• Why do I want to go?

Every day people, myself included, take advantage of every day life. We take advantage of wild animals by wearing furs, buying fur rugs, etc. It'll be a way for me to 'give back'. Also, it'll be an amazing learning experience. I will get the opportunity to work with wild animals which has been my dream for as long as I can remember. Why wouldn't I want to go?

• What do I need from you?

As much as I wish I had a wad of cash sitting around so that I could fund this trip, I don't. So I need you to HELP ME HELP OUT by sending donations, spreading the word and getting your family and friends to help as well. A lot of you working parents or full time students can't go abroad to personally help out so think of this as a kind of 3rd party way to help out by sending me over to all of the hard work. Any donation is appreciated, no matter how small or big!
