Help Me Help My Mom

It was late August when my mother was tested positive for COVID-19. After quarantine, she experienced abnormal bleeding in her uterus. She started to weaken, and her condition went from bad to worse even after multiple check-ups and consultations.

Since hospitals are occupied by mostly COVID-19 patients, it took us a month to get her in confinement at La Salle Dasmariñas as it was the only hospital available. She was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and acquired pneumonia, and suffered heart attack and seizures after spending 1 week in the hospital.

On 09-Nov she was revived by the doctor after certain medical procedures. These procedures proved to be effective yet expensive as it maxed out her health card. We have also borrowed a sum of above PHP200,000 from family, friends and colleague. In an act of desperation, we have also approached loan sharks. We spend an average of 10 to 20 thousand with medicines alone with the hospital bill still running as of this writing. An approximate amount around six hundred thousand has been spent, exclusive of professional fees.
