Help me help mediate land disputes in northern Uganda better

My name is Pasqualino Okello. I come from Gulu in northern Uganda. Thanks to you that people in northern Uganda will have a leader like me to mediate land conflicts in the region. On behalf of those victims, thank you for helping settle land conflicts in the region peacefully.

I recently succeeded in mediating a land conflict in Koro sub county, Gulu District between a son and stepmother. They lived in bitterness for close to 4 years after disagreeing over a small piece of land that the boy inherited from the father. During that time they quarreled and fought. Without my intervention, they would still be enemies. Nowadays, they are farming together like a family once again.

Today, I am launching my 2016 One Young World Fundraiser Campaign. My goal is to attend the summit in Ottawa, Canada to network and share my ideas with young leaders from other parts of the world to contribute to reducing land conflicts. You see, even though I have helped many people in Gulu and Nwoya Districts in northern Uganda, there are still many homes and families living in fear because of land disputes. That’s why my goal for this campaign is to raise £3,500 by August 15th to travel to Ottawa to learn new ideas from other young leaders. If I raise that amount, I’ll be able to afford:

• Access to the One Young World Summit 2016 in Ottawa, Canada.
• Accommodation on a shared basis between 28 September and 1 October
• Catering which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Transport between the Summit accommodation and the Summit venue.
• Summit hand-outs and support materials.
• The cost of travel to and from Ottawa.
