Hello everyone!

Ashley and I were recently accepted into a program organized by the International Volunteer Headquarters in which we will be volunteering in Naples, Italy for two weeks this upcoming July!

Naples, Italy has a very high student drop out rate with many young individuals choosing to leave their education early in favor of finding work on the streets. There are few opportunities for tutoring or extracurricular activities that keep children engaged and learning. During this time Ashley will be teaching English at a local public school while I will be planning and facilitating extracurricular activities.

This July will mark the end of my first year of medical school and the beginning of a month off from all of the lectures, labs, and meetings. I can think of no better investment of time than to travel to a different country, experience a different culture, and provide assistance to children and their families. It is easy to become confined within the demands and time constraints of medical school. However, I believe that traveling to new places, interacting with people of different cultures, and giving back to those in need are crucial in gaining new perspectives.

Ashley was privileged to have this opportunity funded by her school. However, I am in need of some funding in order to make this happen. Any amount that you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your support!

-Zach
