Help me get to my friend’s wedding

My good friend is getting married but he lives on the other side of the country.  I really need to go, especially since he made it to my wedding 3 years ago.  The problem is, my job pays a meager wage and my wife is in school.  She works, but only part time. 

I would also love to stay a few extra days and turn this into a small vacation since my wife's never been to the west coast before.  Nothing extravagant, just a drive down the coast and taking in some of sights and sounds (National Parks, etc).  My wife works really hard, and I would love to be able to give her this trip. 

We will be hard pressed to make it out there at all, even just for the wedding, since we have had multiple emergencies that have eaten a lot of our funds recently (broken water pipe, medical bills, termites, etc).  We thankfully save enough money to pay for the emergencies that crop up, but don't have any left over for things like trips.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I really want to be able to surprise my wife with 1) the fact that we can actually go without selling a vital organ, and 2) stay a couple of extra days, escape from reality, and relax.  I know she could use the break.
