My name is Annie Mokkum. I am 19 years old from Sydney Australia.
I have recently been accepted into a wildlife / conservation course which involves me spending 3 months in the wild of Africa to document and experience animals in the wild. I applied for this course around 2 months ago, with the thought that I had little to no chance of being accepted (over 1500 people applied and only 18 were selected).
That said, I applied for this course as not only is it something I hold very dear to my heart (the love of all animals and their co-existence with our human race), however coming from a very struggled background I was not expecting to be allowed in, and presumed I would be passed over yet again and continue to work out what I could do, rather than rising above the stereotype and doing what I "want" to do.
Animals and nature have always been my love and passion, and this course only adds to the fact that I could really be following my dream (something I only thought happened in movies usually).
My parents and immediate family mean the world to me, however they cannot afford, despite being the most loving family ever, to send me on this trip, hence I am looking far and wide for help to allow me to follow my dream.
If you could see it in your hearts, and even 'pay it forward' so I can realise my potential and give back everything that is given to me whenever I can, that would really be appreciated.
The world is such and interesting place, both human and animal. We need to save, study, document and sustain our wonderful wildlife of all creatures great and small.
Thank you in advance.
