Most of you know I have recently moved overseas to travel and explore. My first stop, after visiting family in England, was to Chios Island in Greece, to volunteer in the refugee camps there. Within the first week I had already extended my trip to three months. My experience in Chios was life changing.
We have a Refugee Crisis that isn't going away. They are PEOPLE, just like you and I. The difference is they have experienced things we couldn't even wish on our worst enemies. And as a human being, we have a responsibility to do something.
I now know that the next few years of my life will still involve living abroad and having new experiences but I will be supporting the refugee crisis throughout this whole time. I will help fill the large gaps that are left behind by the Governments and Organisations.
Winter is coming and although we know Greece as a hot place, just like Melbourne... Greece does have a winter!! And it gets cold. There has already been one death of a 4 year old girl due to hypothermia. I will be using my funds to buy and distribute aid, such as winter clothing, heaters and food packs to neglected camps and vulnerable families. I will also provide activities for the children.
Please if you could spare just a little bit of your money to help me support these people in need I would be so grateful.
The connections I made with people from around the world from different countries and cultures will forever touch my heart. They are some of the most resilient and strong I have ever met. They are so welcoming and remain positive in desperate times. They are more than just a number. They are a mother, a brother, a friend, a person.
