Attention: Help Me Get Charlie Home

As some of you may know, I was meant to fly home, back to South Africa in January. I had handed in my resignation and was heading home!

But life tends to throw curveballs...

I came across Charlie in the pouring rain in the beginning of December (two weeks after handing in my resignation.) He was huddled under a car in a parking lot; his eyes were still closed and he was so small that I thought he was a little mole.

The next few weeks included bottle feeding, night shifts, bonding and feeling like a proud mamma-witnessinghis eyes open, his legs strengthen and cheering him on as his personality developed into thefeisty, curious, and intelligent pup he is today.

Where I need your help:

When I committed to taking Charlie home, I genuinely (and a bit naively) thought it would be an easy process. I figured I could fly him as extra baggage and that would be it.

Plot twist: Little Charlie costs a lot more than extra baggage.

So far I have been quoted the following:

The reason I'm doing everything I can to take him home:

For anyone who has ever had furry friend, the reason I am doing this is obvious: unconditional love. I watched him open his eyes and learn to walk, all while dreaming about the endless adventures we’dhave together for the rest of his life. I may not be able to bear the financial responsibility on my own,but I have more than enough love to give him the best doggy life.

Leaving Charlie behind in Thailand is not an option forme. He sees me as his momma and howls in a frantic panic whenever I am away from him, even when there are other people around. Finding another home for Charlie would break both of our hearts and people looking to adopt dogs here are incredibly hard to come by. Most shelters in Thailandcan do very little in terms of finding dogs homes, so they will release the stronger dogs back onto the streets in order to accommodate the weaker ones. Charlie would most likely end up on the street eventually if I could not bring him home - and I cannot let that happen to my sweet boy.

If you’ve ever had a pet then you know where I am coming from - and know how strong the bond and love are. Imagine the sadness and hurt both you and your beloved animal would feel if you were forced to leave each other. That is how I’mcurrently feeling at the thought of losing Charlie; and I don’t know where else to turn except to the kindness of others.

Honestly, ANY donation, big or small will help tremendously. On the off chance that the donations exceed the cost of flying Charlie home, then I vow to donate the extra money to an animal shelter in need, which are abundant in Thailand. If you can afford to donate any bit of money and understand where I’m coming from, Charlie and I would appreciate your help and generosity endlessly.
