My name is Shoanaliy. I am 23 years old. I’m currently pursuing my degree in Mechatronics Engineering at KDU University College Penang. I started my Degree in June 2019 and it is to end in June 2021. I humbly request for your generosity in helping to fulfill my aspiration to become a Mechatronics Engineer by sponsoring some cost relevant to my course such as the tuition fees, resources fee and also laboratory fees.
After completion of my high school, I continued to do my A-Levels at Advance Tertiary College Penang in 2014. This is to further continue doing my degree in Law as my dad wanted me to become a lawyer. I was not confident with that decision as my areas of interest and also subjects that I was excellent at was Mathematics and Add Maths. Reading and memorising subjects were not favourable to me. After completing my A-Levels in 2016, I was told to continue my degree in the same college but during my A-Levels, I found it hard to cope and understand with the lectures that was conducted in the college and my other option was to attend classes outside college and it was conducted by two experienced lawyers that had a tuition centre but this meant I could not apply for any loan as they were a private institute. My dad paid monthly $200 ( roughly RM800) monthly and this did not include my exam fees which had to be paid to the University of Cambridge as I was taking exams by them. I continued my first year of degree privately but attended the exams for the respectively papers at RECSAM, Penang. For the first year, I did 6 papers it approximately costed $3750 (RM15,000) only for the exam papers which my dad paid fully. The monthly tuition fees added up to $2500 (RM10,000) for the first year. In total my dad had to pay around $6250 (RM25,000) for me to do my law.
In my first year however, I could not get through one paper which is the Criminal Law Paper and I had to go to Kuala Lumpur for the re-sit paper which I also didn’t get through the paper which was really devastating as I really put a lot of hard work and time. I had a talk with my parents and my option was to continue and resit again for the paper or to change my course to something which I would want to do. I knew that putting so much of effort and thinking that I was sure to get through the Criminal paper meant that there was something wrong in my writing skills or maybe the technic of answering questions was not right.
After further deliberation, I came to the decision to switch my course to an engineering course and specifically Mechatronics as my interest and passion was leaning towards mechanical and electrical skills. I could not continue doing my degree in Engineering as I needed Maths and Science for my A-Levels. As I was supposed to do law therefore the subjects I took for my A-Levels were Law, Business Studies and Thinking skills. I had to do my Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering for 2 years and if I did well meaning I got a CGPA of 2.5 and above then I would be eligible to skip one year of my Engineering Degree and enter my Year 2. I did do well for my Diploma as I got a CGPA of 3.0 which entitled me for a direct entry to year 2 which I am currently at.
Hence, the financial difficulties faced by my dad to fund my Degree as he had spent a heavy sum on my education. The total fee for my Engineering Degree is around $14,175 (RM56,700). Each year I have 3 semesters and per semester I take 6 subjects which cost about $2500 (RM10,000). I have just entered my second semester and I have attached the amount that had been paid in the images above. I have invoices and receipts of the payments made and tuition fees which I would gladly share with you upon your personal request.
I am extremely grateful for every dollar donated towards helping me to achieve my educational goal. Upon request, I would gladly share any other information as proof of my intention and to answer any doubts or questions that you may have. Lastly, thank you so much for your donation.
