LOCATION: BARBADOS, WEST INDIES

I currently own a 1998 Volvo S90 Executive. Unfortunately, when I was trying to have the car assessed for repairs and servicing, the engine's oil had somehow drained out, and on the return home (after the engine inexplicably started making some strange noises), the car blew a rod, which then broke a hole in the side of the engine. The vehicle was still driveable after the catastrophe but was misfiring, which originally led me to believe that I had probably blown a gasket or damaged the crankshaft. It was when I decided to try to tear down the engine that I noticed the hole in the block, with part of the damaged rod sticking out. The incident happened in March 2015. I have been unable to locate a suitable workshop or technician who can work on rebuilding/replacing the engine (one workshop wanted to charge me as much as $15,000 BDS/$7,500 US, and a technician offered a dubiously low quote for the job, including parts).

I have tried to save up the money to at least purchase the parts, tools and equipment needed, but unforeseen circumstances have played against me. I am therefore creating this campaign to try to raise the money to purchase the parts and equipment myself and undertake the repairs myself. I previously worked as an apprentice to a number of mechanics, so I am in relatively good stead to undertake such a project. All donations will go towards the purchase and importation of parts, tools, equipment, and any servicing which may need specialist attention (one of the power steering hoses has a leak)
