Help me Finish my Documentary Movie

You know, how severe life stressors experienced by women who are traumatized by abuse or sexual violence?

if you think that sexual harassment is something that can not be tolerated, and women who are traumatized by the sexual abuse they experienced, immediately just to end his life, then we have the same concerns

Help us finish our documentary film, I need $7,425.00 to cover the camera equipment and to cover all the post-production expenses. Things like editing, titling, scoring, graphic design, sound mixing, color correction, music synchronisation fees, plus insurance & attorney fees.

Around 2016 to 2019, many women fall in suffered by sexual abuse in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, but silence. Whispering wind spreading their disgraces to police station, advocates, lecturers, friends, but the victims just got nothing but bully, insult and judges.

Sexual harassment would left long-drawn trauma to the victim. Trauma is like a prison for those who suffered. Depression is the bars and the exit is suicide, if it does not get proper treatment, it will be stuck in a prolonged limbo that can lead a person to be mad.

ABOUT

This film is about the struggle of women who tried to escape from the trauma. As I know the graph never drop down yet, as the graphic image above.

At the beginning of 2019, 20 students of SDN 3 Kauman, Malang, East Java, Indonesia sexually abused by their teachers in turn.

In early 2018 from January to March, 7 babies were born without fathers. these babies were found by the community around the campus in the city of Malang, and 20 women experienced sexual harassment / violence which resulted in traumatic stress.

In 2016, a fresh student of University of Muhammadiyah Malang was killed after being raped by her best friend, her body hidden in a bush. Really pathetic.

THE STORY

Poppy, Nd and Maryam were victims of sexual harassment and violence, each of whom had a way out of the trauma that shackled their lives. Poppy believes that writing is medicine to reduce that trauma, Nd chooses to approach and try to recognise how men are and what they really want to, why they abuse and sexual violence still exist. Maryam creates a women's group discussion called Resister Indonesia. But Poppy still has to deal with the YouTube channel creator who terrorized him because of the writings he published when the creator was shoot on 'prank' in the town's square of Malang. ND got married, the shadow of the man who groped his body on the car that drove him to his hometown, she could not erase the memory in her mind. Maryam has to face a judge who labels her as a prostitute by society.

Who We Are

We’re a fresh team of filmmakers love telling stories of women who have an impact on society. Director Qoemahmad was recognised as a director of Television Program focused on telling stories urban society. Qoemahmad experiences include a local range of work that spans narrative and documentary storytelling for both entertainment and film projects. Beginning his career Director assistant before going on to Celebes Photography where he worked on directing Television Program for local television in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Many friends of Qoemahmad have been join this project in early time that project running. Resister Indonesia is one of them.

Resister Indonesia is a non profit organisation that have a mission to help victims of sexual harassment.

BUDGET

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED

We raised over $3,334.00 to research and shoot Trauma Long Walk to Recovery. We have the footage, but it is not enough yet to share the material with an audience.

WHAT WE NEED

We need to raise the budget to begin our our deep shoot to combine with the first footage and of course the budget of editing process. Once the film is completed, we will be able to apply for film festivals and international distribution opportunities that will bring this story to audiences internationally.

We will be hiring an experienced Indonesian documentary editor to complete our film. Editor that extremely passionate about this story and has agreed to take a pay cut in the interest of facilitating this project.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The funds from this gogetfunding will allow us to hire an editor full time for 3 months. The remainder of our post-production expenses will be covered through grants.

We feel strongly that we finish the film as soon as possible. Poppy, April, Maryam and everyone in their family and community allowed their most intimate and challenging moments to be captured on film because they believed that their stories could be helpful to others experiencing the same things. It is now our responsibility to make sure that their story reaches an audience.

Risks and challenges

Timing is everything. We want this documentary to be done at the time that it can serve its greatest purpose.

A second challenge is that it's incredibly difficult to distribute a documentary film. We hope to have a festival release in Indonesia, and all around Asia. We also hope to arrange for television broadcasts throughout South America, the US and Europe. The reality is that none of this is easy to do, but there is no shortage of determination on our production team.

A final challenge is that funders and distributors rarely take the risk of supporting young filmmakers like us. However, we know that we will deliver a film that is relevant, compelling, and of extremely high quality. With your support, we hope our finished product will speak for itself and prove to distributors that it's worth taking the risk to bring this story to the widest possible audience.
