Campaign Story
“When Life Gives You More Than You Can Stand... KNEEL”
July 18, it’s my 48th birthday. This should be a day to celebrate, yet it was the same day when I received my biopsy result informing me that I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) Breast Cancer (stage 3). This day turns out to be the most miserable day of my life; everything within me seems to start trembling. I kept on asking why this had happened and how will I survive, my family still needs me. A lot of things keeps on popping-in my head and I can’t help myself but cry.
It was first quarter of 2019 when I started to noticed this small lump in my right breast, but before end of the year it became larger, felt heavier, painful and the appearance also change.
Money has always been a constant struggle in our family. We never had enough and most of the time; we borrow money just to have something to eat. Because of our financial problem, I was not able to bring myself in the hospital and get checked. I am not able to give myself what I need; even I am anxious I decided to just take pain killers to lessen the pain.
Then this Covid-19 pandemic happened. My husband who is an overseas worker in Dubai was sent home last May 1st and got repatriated. After seeing my condition, he immediately accompanies me to the hospital and have all the laboratories done. It was really a challenge going back and forth and to look for a hospital due to the quarantine protocols being implemented. But I never thought it will become harder now that I am diagnosed with breast cancer.
My attending physician recommends me to undergo chemotherapy prior the breast surgery, for the tumor size to decreased first. With God’s grace, I was able to gather the amount of money that I need. I am done with 2/6 session with the help of my relatives and close friends. But they can’t finance me all throughout, that’s why I really need your help. Each chemotherapy session cost me 20k and I have to take a shot of medicine which cost 5k for me to recover my energy every after session.
I strongly believe that I can survive with all your kindness and support. This chemotherapy brings back my hope and courage as I started to feel huge difference now, my right breast became smaller and less painful compare to before that I have sleepless nights. Four sessions more and then my surgery.
