Having mental illness is already something I endure everyday, and now having diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Renal Mass Carcinoma, I am now struggling for my physical wellness as well. I hope you can help me in this plight in any way you can, it will really mean a lot to me and for those who care about me. Strong as I may seem to be, but I am very scared.

It all started when I get easily exhausted after minimal activity which is very unlikely for me. Walking is becoming harder, that I had to aide myself with a cane. I even notice edema in other parts of my body such as arms and legs. It affected my self-esteem, all along I thought I was just getting fat. At times my lower back aches, sometimes my upper back—it feels like I’m literally carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. One day, I noticed a tinge of blood in my urine and it alarmed me. I decided to have a urinalysis done, no traces of blood but there are traces of crystals so I was put on antibiotics. Time came that the pain is already too much for me to bear. The blood in my urine even became more prominent, so I sought for further medical advise. I was advised to have an ultrasound, result shows renal solid mass. To be sure, my Urologist requesed for a CT scan with contrast. He suggested a radical nephrectomy after seeing the ct report. However, after consulting with his colleagues, he requested another CT scan but in the chest. He said there are spots in my lungs as well.

I have nearly exhausted my savings at this point trying to just maintain my bills. My next step for treatment should be a radical nephrectomy, or go through a chemotherapy. Universal health care/ guarantee letters from politicians doesn’t cover professional fees and would just give me discounts. I have no way to afford it myself, or continue to cover bills, gas, transients, or just general... adulthood.

I’m at a point of asking for some help. I’m not very good at asking for help. My support system has been huge, emotionally, but they are exhausting their incomes on their own lives, and I simply can’t ask any more of them.

I am so thankful for the life I’ve been given and I’d love the chance to live it to the fullest... continue my treatments...
