Hi I’m kate Tobin. I have a rare type of multiple sclerosis and I’m in the final stages so I have primary progressive multiple sclerosis. I also have brittle bone disease and have been in plaster from the beginning of February until last Monday. I’ve had my ankle repaired totally with pins and plates and a few pieces of bone as my bones don’t break They shatter into pieces I had to have nine weeks of bed rest in hospital for my ankle and Physio spent time teaching me how to transfer from my bed to my wheelchair and then to my chair when the hospital were satisfied with my transfers. I I was left home for two weeks. For me the transferring went well but the day before I was going to have my cast removed in Dublin I was transferring from my wheelchair to my chair and my left leg shattered so I was taken to Waterford hospital where I found out that I had shattered the main bones in my leg so I had to have more surgery and pins and plates I had an mri in Dublin and a tumour was found on my saliva gland and last week a large lump was found in my throat but as a former cancer nurse specialist and then a palliative Ćàre nurse I know that the tumor is probably malignant but I would not survive surgery or chemotherapy

I was last week told I could walk again with my Zimmer frame but it is turning out to be a painful process

I’m not feeling sorry for myself my neighbours are settled travellers and good to me. A while ago I was asked by the lady who lives next door if I could help their daughter who is in first class with her Homework I said I would and soon I had a little group of 8 all have poor reading skills so slowly out of the last money in my benefit money €20 I am buying them a book as they age from 4-10 so I do that I was a nun for 12 years and both congregations left me pennineless finally I had to include a picture of Bruno my companion at all times and if I fall or start to get sick he presses my panic alarm for help and sleeps with me at night

Thanks for reading this

God Bless

Kat
