Help me create employment for women and youth

INTRODUTION

Papas Enterprises is a company that has two objectives. It provides quality affordable ladies and men’s shoes at wholesale and retail prices on a regional scale. We also do business consulting for individuals and groups looking to get into the same line of business. By growing my business I am able to create employment by helping others start their own businesses and I am committed to helping local brands grow regionally by stocking their items in my retail shops.

THE GENESIS

Papas was started in May 2015 when I took the first trip to Kampala to source for quality and affordable ladies outfits. We started as an online store known as Kabiri’s closet, selling clothes purely on retail basis. As I was planning my maiden trip in 2015 one of the main challenges I encountered was lack of information i.e I didn’t know where to start looking in terms of logistics, I also didn’t know where to purchase the items nor how to sell online. In 2016 I encountered several ladies who were stranded and they had encountered similar challenges like I had in 2015 and that is where the business consultation idea was born. In 2017 we decided to specialize in quality, affordable shoes as we noticed there was a high demand for quality shoes but they were in little supply and they were quite expensive and also offer business consultation.

OUR MISSION

Our mission as Papas enterprises is to assist women and youth realize their full potential by starting their own successful businesses. Some of the challenges that most people looking to get into business face are lack of information, lack of capital and lack of mentorship.

Below is how we solve the above business problems at papas

• Free training on how to start and run a successful import business (mostly dealing with clothing, shoes and household items) we do this by holding monthly workshops in different towns in Kenya
• We offer market access to our clients by showing them to where they can source their items at affordable prices and introducing them to our suppliers. We plan business trips twice a month where we take the clients to Uganda,China and Thailand which is where we source our items from.
• We help individuals with very little capital start their venture where they can source from our suppliers through groups. This helps them enjoy economies of scale despite not having a lot of capital. This enables so many people to start their small businesses and grow
• We offer training on basic book keeping for all our clients.

KEY MILESTONES

We have boot strapped from the onset in 2015. We have a team of 4 people. 2 based in Kenya and 2 in Uganda. Our business has been purely online for the past 4 years and we are looking to expand. OnE of the ways we are looking to expand is by opening a physical store where people can come and get quality shoes at affordable prices, we are looking to sell items on retail and wholesale and also offer one on one consultations.

We will use the money as follows: Setting up the physical shop, travel expenses to get stock and administrative expenses-USD 1,500, Stock purchasing-USD1,500
