with this campaign I wish to state my motivation for donations in order to attend the collaborative master in structural design and construction management launched from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus in Greece and the Kingston University in England, in which I was accepted as a postgraduate student for 2016 winter semester starting period.
I appreciate this opportunity I was given to deepen my knowledge and learn how to carry out the conceptual and detailed design of standard and innovative structures and substructures under normal and earthquake actions, to latest standards, using steel and concrete. Also, I will study the financial, legal and contractual problems that arise during the construction process, and I will learn how to apply acquired knowledge of management techniques and contract administration in the supervision of such projects. Finally, I will have the opportunity to carry out research and undertake industry-relevant projects. It is certain that I will benefit from the experience and knowledge gained throughout such a solid and complete postgraduate program.
However, since I am not currently employed, and in lack of any stable income, aftereffect of the extended financial crisis in Greece and the difficulties that society faces the last five years, I find it difficult to raise funds for that purpose.
Getting the chance to attend in the aforementioned postgraduate program is very important for me as I have come to understand during my professional experience. Modern city life faces increasingly complicated, often unpredictable issues of consequence to human lives and environments, including global warming and ecological changes, rapid urbanization and globalization, energy use and exploitation of natural resource in building design and construction. Successful innovation and visionary leadership seem to require a broad understanding of the relationships between technology and people in order to address and tackle major challenges facing society with transformative, multidisciplinary solutions.
In this scope, the particular program perfectly matches my so far academic course, research and interests, while it will grant me with better professional opportunities.
I am looking forward to interacting with this important research community and to contribute, with my participation, to the study of the construction industry practices in modern Europe.
Thank you in advance.
