Dear great loving helpers,
My name is Ola Ali. I am a young student from The Gaza Strip-Palestinian Territories with a strong ambition to continue my education, build further on my strong academic achievements, and increase the possibilities to achieve my educational dreams and be able to strengthen my capacity to find employment in my country. And I am currently an International student doing my master degree at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
I hope you don’t mind me sharing with you my journey and challenges I have faced over the last years in my pursuit to continue and finish my education. But my determination and motivation to achieve my goals and dreams have always helped me to overcome these obstacles.
After finishing high school in the Gaza Strip in 2008, I had plans to study Business Administration as I always had the dream of running my own business one day or working with international or multinational organizations. But due to political disturbances in the Gaza Strip, my whole family was forced to leave the Gaza Strip and we moved to Syria in 2008. My parents had to leave their jobs behind and restart their working lives in Syria, while I and my sisters continued our education. My parents have always worked hard to support their three daughters through education and finding ways to support us to continue our education, even when it was very difficult.
Then with the outbreak of the war in Syria we were forced to flee again in 2012. We were living in a Palestinian refugee camp which was not at all safe. My family and me fled to Egypt in 2012 where I was determined to continue my education and I achieved my Bachelor Dual-Degree in Financial Management and Accounting in 2016 with Excellent Honor.
Unfortunately, after finishing my studies in Egypt we were not able to continue our residency in Egypt and we had to return to Gaza Strip. The timing of our return prevented me of accepting the conditional place offered to me in 2018 at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. I therefore had to defer for one year and I was able to start the master degree in 2019. Achieving a Master Degree of Business Administration - International Management at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will help me continue my educational path and build up my career working path efficiently.
However, one of the main obstacles to continue my studies at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam were the limited financial resources I and my family have available at present . In order to continue my studies I was in need to find additional financial support. While my parents have been great support to me and my sisters, the different conflicts and being forced to flee several times have impacted negatively on the livelihoods of my parents. I therefore would like to reduce the financial burden on them by trying to genuinely ask you to help me peruse my ambition and dreams.
I was honored to get the opportunity to come to The Netherlands to start a master degree of Business Administration-International Management. This study could not have happened without the VU Fellowship Scholarship Programme for excellent students I have received from the university for one academic year that helped me financially with tuition fees.
At the beginning it was a challenge for me to get used to the different education system, adapting to a new environment. It was also a challenge managing living expenses in the Netherlands and I found it not easy to find opportunities to cover my expenses. I tried to find a suitable student job to work and cover my living expenses during my studies but it was not easy to firms that can help with work permission as an international (Non-EU) student.
Finding opportunities was very time consuming and I have studied and worked hard to follow up on my studies during this year and graduate in one academic year. However having faced a number of different challenges I am now in a situation that it is very difficult to complete my degree within this year. When I finally got settled we are now all faced with the spread of the Corona-virus and the government restrictive measures.
Because of all the different reasons I would like to ask if its possible support me financially as I will need to register at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for another academic year of 2020-2021 to take courses in the university and do my thesis in the period of November 2020 – February 2021.
I am struggling with time, and every euro will make a difference. I understand this is a difficult mission but I believe that there are many good people who are willing to help, who will hear my words, and believe in my goal to complete my studies at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and graduate, supporting me to achieve my dream and ambition as a Palestinian woman to have more opportunities and build a professional working career in the Netherlands.
I would really appreciate If you could help me with
1000 EUR for Accommodation fees
8000 EUR for Tuition fees
1000 EUR for Living Expenses in the Netherlands.
I would greatly appreciate every and any form of support from you.
No matter how small, the gesture means the world to me. Thank you for taking the time to read this. ❤
