This January, I will be taking part in a special and important project located in La Gonave Island, Haiti.
The project is a sustainable building technique course, while putting these techniques to action and building a self-sufficient elementary school.
This project is initiated by Earthship Biotecture a brand leaded by architect Michael Reynolds, known for the design and construction of "Earthship" - structures that are intended to be "off-the-grid-ready" homes, with minimal reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. They are constructed to use available natural resources, especially energy from the sun and rain water.
In times of natural disasters, which have become more frequent in this part of the world, the structure will provide as shelter for the community on the Island.
My tuition fee will also be used towards the participation of locals in the program.
I have a diploma in Landscape architecture and I am keen to learn more about different ways to integrate environmental responsibility into my professional world. I feel a deep urge to take action for environmental justice and do something for those who live in the areas most affected by current environmental changes. Doing this, while gaining meaningful, inspiring professional skills is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.
My expenses are due and include :
Tuition fee of 3000 USD
+ Travel expenses of 1500 USD .
I greatly appreciate any contribution of yours for this important cause!
