My name is Simone Phillipson (35) and I live in Gauteng. I am raising funds for a round of IVF treatment that will change my life dramatically, as it is my only chance to become a mother to a miracle baby.

As little girls we grow up dreaming of falling in love, getting married to our prince charming and becoming a mommy to 2, 3 or even 5 little bundles of joy.

In 2015 by dream came crashing down, taking every bit of hope and part of my soul with it.

I was rushed to the hospital for an emergency Myomectomy (my second), where my gynecologist removed a 7.9cm Myoma that was embedded within my uterine wall, it caused so much damage to my womb that it was confirmed that there was no way what so ever that I would ever be able to carry my children.

This took such a toll on my marriage, as I completely went into withdrawal, and there was no way anything could comfort me because I had failed to do the one thing any woman should be able to do, and that is to bear children for her husband. I was diagnosed with depression and suffered from anxiety.

During a routine check-up in August this year, by some miracle, it was discovered that a part of my uterine wall had grown back. I was referred to a specialist who did some investigation, I was sent for an HSG x-ray - the news I am afraid just got worse, my womb had a lot of scar tissue, another growth and both my ovarian tubes were blocked. There was no way that an egg would possibly be planted into a womb that is described as being abnormal and non-functional - a hysterectomy was the only option to for me to prevent further complications, I refused as the timing was not right, due to work responsibilities and because I am a final year student with exam time fast approaching, I would rather sit with the pain than go through all the emotions again.

However the specialist suggested I go for a Hysteroscopy, to help remove some scar tissue, this would help decrease the abnormal bleeding and pain I suffer every month.

After surgery the specialist confirmed that he managed to cut away scar tissue, remove another growth and clean my womb, however, the LH ovarian tube had been completely severed from the previous operation and the RH ovarian tube is completely blocked from the scarring and opening thereof would also cause more damage.

The specialist had put me on an intensive round of Oestrogen, double dose, it made me very sick, I had nausea all the time and threw up morning and evening. On my follow up check-up we received news that is somewhat of a miracle.

The removal of the scar tissue, as well as the medication, had helped strengthen my womb and a complete lining has grown and so too some uterine muscle. What this means is that the doctors are willing to try one round of IVF treatment on me, as they believe that there is a possibility that an egg might be able to be implanted with the lining that had thickened and regenerated. However, the costs involved are high and not something we have at the moment. Time is also against me, if we wait too long, the scar tissue might return and there won’t be another chance to clean it again as I might lose full functioning of my uterine.

For 4 years I have had to wake up with a broken heart, I have had to hear my friends complaining about their children who are sick or misbehaved and would think to myself these mommies don’t realise how blessed they are. I have had to gather strength and courage to attend children’s birthday parties, baby showers, have had to feel a baby kick in their mommy’s tummies all this done with a brave face and tears in my eyes.

Please help me raise the needed funds so I too can become a mommy. I believe in Miracles – do you?
