I am Aman, a Junior based in India. I am the founder of The Youth Philosophy Community and host of The Youth Philosophy Podcast. I recently got into YYGS with a scholarship worth $1000, but the remaining tuition was like half of my parent's annual income.
Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is an academic enrichment program for outstanding high school students from around the world. Each summer, students from over 150 countries (including all 50 U.S. states) participate in one interdisciplinary, two-week session online or at Yale’s historic campus. I want to attend this program in order to boost my arsenal thus helping the Youth make a difference. (Check out my website.)
Unfortunately, I decided to decline the offer. But then someone suggested I should email Yale about my financial situation. With almost zero hope, I emailed them that I won't be able to attend YYGS at this cost. One week passed by and there was no reply. Today came an email from their side, stating they have increased my scholarship. They packaged my Christmas gift in the form of 'Hope'. But I still have to pay $500.
Unfortunately, we cannot afford this program under these circumstances, as $500(37,000 Indian Rupees) is still a whopping amount for a middle class family like mine. Any donation would be helpful.
