When I was 13, I entered Secondary School and one of the first few activities my new form teacher, Mrs Chua, made us do was to list our dreams. I clearly remember writing:
- Graduate from a good University
- Become a National Ultimate Frisbee Player and represent Singapore
- -This I cannot remember-
Today, at the age of 24, I qualified for the Women's Team which will be representing Singapore at World's Championships of Beach Ultimate 2017, happening in Royan, France. I will be given a jersey with both the Singapore flag and my name printed on it.
The only problem is... I might have to pull out as I cannot afford the trip.
You see, I just graduated from a good university (fulfilled dream number 1!) with a pretty hefty student loan. I am working right now, earning an income to pay off my student loan and pay my monthly bills. But come August, I will no longer be working as I will be starting Masters under a scholarship.
I wish I can ask my parents or relatives to help me out but their response ranges from "No", "Why are you doing this?" to "Why don't you not go?" - generally not supportive. Well, in fact my family has never watched me play a single game, since I started participating in competitive tournaments at the age of 19.
So here I am hoping to crowdfund my expenses for WCBU 2017. Please help me fulfill my dream of representing the nation in Royan!
