Help disseminate this methodology with global impact!

Our dream is to end frustration and traumas that so many people have when it comes to learning a foreign language. This is the main mission of Liaison Applied Linguistics, a company specialized and passionated about the research and teaching of languages.

In 2017, we made a decision to put our findings to the test through two paths. The first one was to expose our findings to the scientific community and the second was to start a social project with people who had difficulties in their first language, and no background in English.

The first path:

In order to present our findings to the scientific community, we decided to submit our work and present it in an international conference in Europe, the SFT 2017 (4th Conference on Foreign Language Teaching) in Saarbrücken, Germany. Since it was an important conference, as a small Brazilian startup, we did not expect to be accepted, but fortunately we were and had the pleasure of presenting our methodology to PHDs from around the world. Pursuing our goal of addressing this global issue, in 2018, we submitted our methodology to Japan's largest language conferences, JALT 2018 (44th Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning) in Shizuoka, Japan. Currently, Rodrigo Rodrigues, founder of Liaison, is associated to the Japanese Association for Language Teaching, under the special interest group on brain, mind and education.

The second path:

Parallel to the scientific publications, we started a social project at Vila Torres, a needy community in Curitiba, Brazil, and we realized how our methodology was changing lives. The students were not justlearning a new language, they were recovering their self-esteem and confidence. That was achieved through the improvement of their knowledge in their first language, Portuguese, while learning English.

Mayara teaching classes at Villa Torres for this year’s students

We have in our DNA the passion for serving and volunteering. A sample of this is the fact that 15% of our 4.696 hours of classes taught until this moment were voluntary and associated to social projects. We are asking for your donation so that we can serve more people and better. We are as passionate about language teaching and research as much as we are passionate about serving people. For us, this is a privilege and we are thankful for this opportunity. With each hour donated, the cases of lives changed increase, like the case of Mayara.

Mayara is one of our students from 2018, the year the project started at Villa Torres. Within the period of just 1 year and a half, she had a relevant transformation. She went from struggling with portuguese and barely knowing a word in english to becoming B1 level in english. Since March, she is also an english monitor and sometimes instructor at this year's Vila Torres Project, 2019.

Why we need your help?

After almost 2 years of hard work and dedication, the two paths that we decided in 2017 met. For, through our research and application of the methodology through 4.696 hours of teaching, very interesting results were observed. For the vast majority of people, studying a new language is an experience that provides much more frustration and anxiety than the joy of broadening horizons and opening up countless opportunities in a globalized society.

We are convinced that we can change many lives around the world through an adequate methodology of language teaching. Therefore, we ask for your help to change Mayara’s life. We want to take her to Germany, as a living proof that our methodology is effective and to give her an opportunity to develop herself by attending an important and international conference next October. The conference, specialized in language teaching, will take place in Saarbrücken, Germany. With her level of English, Mayara will be able to directly answer PHDs about her journey and experience about english learning.

In addition to giving Mayara the opportunity to get to know Europe and attend to the conference, we also want to give her a cultural experience that may add value to her education background both as a person and citizen. We want to take her to important museums, which will be on the journey.

Therefore, our objective is to finance expenses related to the trip to the conference in Germany in order to disseminate the methodology.

Once we reach the desired value, all additional value will be allocated to the reform of the classroom where the classes take place in Vila Torres and the continuation of the research for finalization and publication of the scientific article.

This way we can share our findings and research with the world and help people overcome this barrier that often seems insurmountable.

With your help our findings will reach a broader public, we will be able to help more people by recovering people's confidence in their capacity of learning a new language.

Below you can find other testimonies of lives transformed through the Brain Connected methodology.

Help us bring this transformation to many more lives and to many continents!
