Help Matt fight against Leukemia for the second time

“When I was told I might have leukaemia for the second time late this year after several years of total remission and leading a normal healthy life, I was a fit 36-year-old working in the mines in Darwin. All I wanted to do was hop on a plane and go home to my family back in Port Macquarie on the NSW North Coast".

When further tests confirmed Matt had yet again been diagnosed with the rare form of leukaemia, acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APML), his mum took extended leave from work to be right by my side. They were flown straight to Sydney to embark on months of gruelling chemotherapy and further treatment once again.

Not only has Matt had to deal with and beat this horrible disease once, he is yet again in the midst of the second battle of his life. His loving family and close friends will be with him through the best and worst of this ongoing battle, however Matt and all his immediate family and close friends, are searching for the means to overcome this on a financial level, knowing that their love and hope for their son and friend is the only important thing.

Whilst a lot of his medical treatment is covered under the medicare levy, the majority of his specialist costs, loss of income whilst trying to maintain a mortgage, and his heavy family burden financially to support themselves and Matt through this ordeal is why I have created this campaign, knowing that there are so many people out there that can and will open their hearts and offer any assistance they can to help ease this burden so Matt can continue on with as little stress as possible.
