Help Mariska get her life back!

Despite being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the tender age of 18 months, Mariska has always been a very lively, vibrant person. She has never let the arthritis get her down, and people were always surprised to hear of her illness. (Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body is literally attacking and destroying itself.)

However, at 28 years, the arthritis is starting to win the fight. The reason? The chemical medication is no longer effective in suppressing the symptoms. Mariska now has to use biological medication, such as Humira. The medication is very effective, but very expensive.

Without the medication, Mariska's body is slowly weakening as her body loses the fight against its own immune system. All her joints are stiffening up, and at the young age of 28 she starts moving like an 80 year old. With the medication she can lead a normal life like any other young 28 year old.

Mariska needs at least $1 500 per month to pay for the biological medication and other medical expenses.
