Help Marios Get Autism Early Intervention Therapy

Marios needs your Help!! he needs Autism Intervention Therapy as soon as possible to have a better start at life....

This is his story. He's a micro preemie born at 26 weeks and 3 days. and fought 110 day in the NICU to come home to me... he weighed just 970 grams and has overcome so much including cranial surgery due to scaphocephaly.

I noticed that as he grew that something wasn't right with his development, as at 19 months he has yet to speak and he doesn't play with other children i was so worried that i had him seen by a specialist child development doctor. The news was as i feared he has been preliminary diagnosed as having many cognitive delays and has limited interests, he has been placed in a high risk category for autism as well as having general developmental delays.

The specialist strongly suggests that he starts early intervention therapy and that the best results for him to live a manageable life would be the early start denver model therapy.

Research has shown that early intervention can improve a child's overall development. Children who receive autism-appropriate education and support at key developmental stages are more likely to gain essential social skills and react better in society.

And here we get to why we need your help. i'm a ex-pat and live and work in Greece. The health insurance system here doesn't cover therapy for autism completely, actually the amount given to parents for therapy doesn't even cover one sixth of the costs. This is because he hasn't been given a diagnosis yet as he's still only 19 month actual (16 month adjusted because of prematurity). The small amount of benefits given to parents doesn't start to be paid until 4 months after the therapy starts.

I have been told that we shouldn't wait because it will only be detrimental for Marios but the amount that I have been quoted (€800 euros a month) would mean that it would be impossible for me to provide this therapy for him and live, even though i work full time.

Please help me give Marios the therapy he needs. It would mean so much to me and to him. He's such a happy little boy and loves everyone, he's fought so hard through everything and i'm sure with your help he'll be a little warrior for you all too.
