Help Maria and baby Muaz get back home

My name is Asmita. I currently reside in Dubai and I am running this campaign on behalf of my flatmate Maria.

Maria and Muaz's Story: Background

Maria and her 22-month old baby- Muaz are from the Philippines. They are in dire need of money to get back to the Philippines. Maria has not been able to pay her rent for the last 4 months and is unable to pay for the flight back to the Philippines. She was on her husband's visa as a dependent, however, her husband who is from Syria is stuck in Syria after having gone back to visit his parents there, prior to the Corona outbreak.

Their condition is grim. As neither her husband can send her money due to banking regulations and restrictions in war-torn Syria, nor can she work to make a living in Dubai as she does not have a valid visa. The only option for her is to go back to the Philippines- where she is originally from. Her family in the Philippines are incapable of helping her as they have no means to do so. Further, the flat owner withheld her passport and refuses to give it back until she pays back the rent that she owes him. All this is impossible at present, as she barely has any dirhams left to feed her 22-month old child and she cannot work. Until now, we the flatmates collectively helped her with baby food and diapers. However the rent is beyond our means as well.

The Cost

Maria is desperate to get home. All the expenses including the repatriation flight cost (which is double the normal cost), overdue rent, and penalties (as imposed by the law) total around 12000 aed which is around $3500. Please help Maria and Muaz get back home.

Maria and Muaz's condition at present

The owner has asked her to vacate the room in 8 days. She has a lot of luggage and nowhere to go. The heat waves in Dubai are unbearable and she would not be able to take refuge in the parks or street corner with her infant in the Dubai heat. Plus, the safety concerns for a young mother. Her condition will only deteriorate if we don't help her immediately with a repatriation flight. She is mentally fragile at this point and on the verge of a mental and emotional breakdown.

My Pledge

I have seen Maria and Muaz suffer. I started this fundraiser with a determination to help the two as if I don't they will not make it. I personally ensure to each and everyone one of you that the money you donate will fall into the right hands and all the proceeds will go to Maria. Please save Maria and Muaz.
