Help make a future doctor, help a thousand others.

‘Mom, I want to be a doctor when I grow up’ just like many innocent and dreamy eyed kids, I said this to my mom when I was just barely aware of my surroundings.

Hello everyone, I am Sukhmani Ashok, hailing from the country of diversity, India. Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to be a doctor. Of course, All for the right and noble reasons, but also because they are like heroes, aren't they!

Just how many people find passion for something in their lives? I know many people who have lived their lives without finding something they are passionate about, something they want to pursue with ambition. But I do have it, I have always known.

Since I could remember, I have strived towards that goal, planning each step properly, shooting down all the obstacles one by one, and working hard to the bones to score even that one extra point. So here I am, a second year medical student studying in Turkey. But I am now facing one of the biggest challenges, financing my dream.

My parents have been great. They have supported me all along the way. Some years back, my dad lost his job and after some risk taking investments and back stabbing people, our financial situation became grim. It was hard to stay afloat. But my parents never let that become a reason that kept me from going after my dream. I honestly don’t know how they did it. But I do know how grateful I am to them.

I have asked for help from those around me. Family, friends, but there is just so much that they can do. It is incredibly difficult to ask other strangers.

Thinking you might be rejected, thinking you might just be thrown off your path, thinking you might not be able to pursue that one thing in the world that ignites passion in you, its horrible. I have been plagued by these thoughts constantly. In the end I have turned to you all. Every dollar, every cent that you donate, takes me a step closer to achieving that dream and living my passion. Please, help. I ardently ask for your help. Help me realize my dream of becoming a doctor. Help me save thousands of lives that I could impact. Help a little girl believe in the goodness and kindness of others.
