HK$50,500raised of HK$50,000.00 goal goal
My name is Anna, and I’ve been a rower for 10 years now. Some of my greatest feats were placing in the World Coastal Rowing Championships 2020, 3rd place in the HK Rowing Championships, and 5th place in the Asian Games for sailing. But my biggest challenge is right now! - The Around the Island Race 2020 (ATIR) which will be held on November 15th, 2020.
(That’s me on the right!)
The ATIR is an exciting 45 km long challenge around all of Hong Kong Island — Normal rowing races are 2km to put it into perspective! Many courageous people have done this race across the various sports since it began and have done incredibly well, even breaking records!
That’s why I have set myself the challenge:
- To be the first woman to row around the entire Hong Kong island SOLO!
- To complete the route in under 5 hours
But guys, I need your support! It is common to race ATIR in 4-person boats and I have raced in them a couple of times too, but it's a challenge on a completely different level in a 1-person boat. I have never ever rowed that distance in a single rowing session by myself! Not even close!
To help motivate myself and to honour this historic row, I would like to raise funds for two important charities close to my heart:
- OCEAN RECOVERY ALLIANCE (70%): A registered charitable organization based in Hong Kong that aims to reduce plastic pollution on land and water. To find out more: https://www.oceanrecov.org/
Bringing Pride to the Outdoors
- APOPO HeroRATs (30%): An incredible organization that trains African giant pouched rats to sniff out landmines. To find out more: https://www.apopo.org/en/who-we-are/our-mission
Magawa the HeroRAT who was awarded the PDSA Gold Medal for life-saving bravery. Find out more here: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-54284952
Thanks for your support! Counting on you guys to hold me accountable!! :)
Let’s make history together :D
