Hi, thank you for being here. I have created this fundraiser for Mahmoud Al-zaq to help get his story out to Singapore and the world. Mahmoud and his family has been displaced thrice from north Gaza to the south. They are now trying to survive the war and widespread starvation. I spoke to him personally and has verified his identity and location.

"Hello, I am Mahmoud from Gaza, I am 22 years old. I graduated with a degree in technology engineering in Gaza. I had a simple life and a simple dream, my dream was to buy a car, to help my family with everything, and to buy them everything they wished for.

We used to sleep in warm houses, the prices were reasonable, we had enough food. We used to go to the Mediterranean sea, me and my family and my friends. We were really happy, but since the war started more than 150 days ago, our lives turned into a tragedy.

The occupation threatened everyone who wants to remain in northern Gaza. We had no choice but to flee under shelling and destruction. Our house was completely destroyed. We were displaced to Khan Yunis, which the occupation soldiers told us was a safe area, but then they bombed near our shelter (a school) in Khan Yunis. We escaped again under bombing. We saw many with horrific injuries, and martyrs* (the dead) in front of us as we journeyed to Rafah.

Because of the lack of food and threats of invasion, we have now fled to Deir al-Balah. We now live in cold tents. Prices are very high and there are no job opportunities in this war.

I am trying to find help for 11 people in my family, including myself.

My father, Osama, 55 years old.

My mother, Suhaila, 54 years old.

My older brother Mohammed, 26 years old, and his wife Israa, 24 years old. They have three children: Tala, 4 years old, Rahaf, 2 years old, and Hala, 7 months old.

My sister, Yasmin, 27 years old and who suffers from hearing loss.

My younger brother, Ahmed, 18 years old.

My younger brother, Ismail, 15 years old.

Ramadan will come to us in this tragic situation. I hope that you will stand with me to help my family to eat, drink, and buy milk and diapers for the children, I really hope that you will stand with us in Gaza and help us under these difficult circumstances. Your help is very, very important."

Mahmoud will also use the donations to help his relatives, including his widowed sister, Warda, living with her three young children in Nuiserat. Her husband was martyred early in the war, when he was heading to the market. She is now living with her husband's surviving family, but as she has no income of her own, her circumstances are also dire.

Mahmoud desperately wants to find work to be self-sufficient and to help others, but the situation in Gaza is really bad and there is no work to be found. He is asking for a little help to get through the war.

*In Palestine, martyrs refer to any person who was killed by an aggressor, whether targeted or un-targeted, and regardless of religion.
