Help Lucky Live Longer and Happier!

Update posted by Ju Cruz On May 17, 2017

Dearest Friends,

Good evening. I’ve sad news.

This update is very hard to write. As of this morning, Lucky passed away due to cardiac arrest after spending three nights in intensive care.

We hoped for Lucky’s full recovery, and have accepted the possibilities of it being slow. He showed signs of improvement after his surgery, but we were hit with a wall when the vet informed us that he might’ve contracted severe tetanus after his hit-and-run accident. His anti-tetanus shots weren’t able to stop the disease, and eventually the disease spread, affecting his ability to recover fully.

Lucky had been strong throughout the entire time, and he fought until the end.

We did everything we can through your help, and again, we’d like to thank you all for helping us make a dog feel loved and cared for even for such a short time.

I am pretty sure Lucky is in Dog Heaven, wagging his tail, and thanking everyone who had contributed to his campaign. I think he wants you to know that he loves you all.

Take care of yourselves always, and be well.

Sincerely,
Your friends Ju and Chassy

Dear Friends,

Good evening! We hope this finds you well.

Yesterday, we visited Lucky after being monitored and observed in the clinic for the last two days after his operation. His recovery has been riddled with ups and downs: his post-amputation wounds continue to heal slowly, however, he has been getting muscle spasms frequently, there's still some bleeding on his one leg, and he remains being fed via IV. As much as we've hoped for Lucky to have a speedy recovery after his surgery, it seems like Lucky isn't out of the woods yet. Currently, he is still under observation in the vet clinic and being given intensive care in order for him to recover properly. We remain hopeful that Lucky's condition will continue to improve over time, and that his fighter of a character would help him be strong as he recovers.

Through your help, we were able to get Lucky's amputation completed! Thank you for making it all possible! As Lucky remains with the vet in order to completely recover, we would like to continue with Lucky's GoGetFunding campaign in an effort to meet the additional expenses his recovery will entail. For this, we'll probably start another GoGetFunding page to invite more backers and donations, and use what we'll get there to cover Lucky's medicine, IV/food, and his boarding expenses in the clinic. And as always, we'll keep you updated.

Once again, thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts!

With love,
Your friends Ju and Chassy

Dear Friends!

Today is a Friday! I'll try to keep this one brief—I don't want to take too much of your time because it is the weekend and I want all of you to embrace it as soon as possible!

So, good news: Lucky's operation was successful! His surgery was done by his vet yesterday, and Lucky spent the night in recovery at the clinic. My sister swung by the clinic this morning to check on him and his progress, and also to take photos!

We are super proud of Lucky for braving the operation! He is ~the good boy!

Right now, Lucky is in a stable condition, however the vet informed us that he has to remain in the clinic because he is drooling. While this is normal after dogs go through a major surgery, it is still mandatory for Lucky to spend another night under observation to make sure that he's handling everything well and good.

We'll keep you updated on Lucky's progress! We're so close to our target amount which covers Lucky's operation and we want to thank you again for making it possible! Please continue sharing and retweeting to help spread the word even more! This way, we'll be able to give Lucky all the help he needs and deserves as he recovers completely. We are grateful! Thank you.

Your friend,
Ju

PS. Totally unrelated, but not quite: here is a video of Britney Spears' "Lucky" for good luck!

Hello, Friends!

I hope everyone is doing okay! I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for donating and sharing our campaign for our pal Lucky. Also, special shout outs—I hope these people won't mind me putting the spotlight on them without their consent(!): Shakira Sison for allowing me to slide into her DMs and retweeting the campaign to her 20k+ followers, Carina Santos for her retweets and generous donation, Audrey Reyes for being assertive on my behalf (I am shy sometimes), and CARA for noticing our story. And those strangers who have donated—I wish I knew you personally so I could buy you a beer, if you're into that! The Internet is beautiful!

At the moment, we have reached 72% of Lucky's amputation costs. This morning, my sister used it as downpayment for the surgery, which the veterinarian accepted! Lucky is currently undergoing the operation, and if all goes well, by tomorrow he can come back home to recover. I asked my sister to take Lucky's post-surgery photos and also Lucky's kindhearted vet, so we can share them with you!

We will keep you updated on Lucky's progress. For now, we're just grateful! We'll keep on pushing until we hit our target amount, and hopefully we'll get enough in order to help Lucky as he recovers! Thank you very much for making Lucky's surgery possible!

Love,
Ju
