Help little Babu to get back to his school & home .
Babu is a 7 years old kid of a single mother Sumitra , Since the untimely death of Sumitras husband three years ago , she is raising her little son Babu single handedly , To give Babu a better education and a good future , she gave up her job of a cleaner and set up a small shop infront of her house , selling low cost ladies clothes and imitation jewelery . When she set up her small business three years ago she had to invest her life's entire savings of around $ 400 , within few months her business started giving her sufficient income to pursue her dream of Babu's education in a good school and a decent living . Sumitra and her son Babu's life were happy for almost three years . Unfortunately the floods that happened in Mumbai on 29 th August 2017 played havoc in the lives of Sumitra and her seven year old son Babu. Thirty centimetres of rainfall in a day drowned the city of Mumbai . Sumitra's house and shop which was basically a 250 sq feet shack made of plywood and tarp was badly damadged and her attached shop was washed away due to the heavy rains and flash floods that hit the Mira Road district in suburban Mumbai , Since the flooding Sumitra and her kid have gone through several months of struggle to make their home habitable and repair their shop , because of acute shortage of money and after few illnesses Babu have dropped out of school . Sumitra and Babu are at the risk of having to abandon their dreams.
Who am I and why am I asking for your help?
My name is Sanjay Pandey and I am a student of Ayurveda studies. I normally spend my weekends and free time in teaching children around my neighborhood - who belong to the under-privileged class. I have taught poor children for last four years and want to continue in future as well. Sumitra's little kid Babu is one of those poor kid that I have been teaching since last two years . Most of us were privileged enough to get (quality) education as kids, Most of us had access to things like a computer and books . Do you think it is fair that a little kid like Babu be deprived of the same simply because he was born in a poor family ? While we can not do much about the materialistic aspect, but with small donations we can surely help them to find their space under the Sun . To me there is no picture so beautiful as smiling, bright-eyed, happy children; no music so sweet as their clear and ringing laughter.
So I'm hoping to raise a couple of hundred dollars to see Babu back to his own home and school and to ensure that Babu's home is made habitable as quickly as possible with basic necessities like water and electricity connection restored , with few months of work and small contributions by my friends I have managed to repair 40% of Babu's home but its still not habitable .
In Sumitra's own words:
Babu is missing his school a lot and I want him to get back to school as soon as possible . As a poor mother it's hard to fathom just how much it can ruin things over Christmas for Babu . I wish to repair and restart my small shop and the house as soon as possible , my small business used to bring sufficient income for Babu's education and a decent living . In the last few months I had to use the last of my resources . This is a very difficult time for me . I have never asked for help like this before, but have exhausted all other options .
When you realize that even doing small things can create a big impact on someone's life, it gives you an inexplicable sense of satisfaction , any contribution you can make to support Babu and his mother is a donation to make sure that a little kid of seven years old doesn't end up with tools in a factory but with a pencil in hand at his school .
