Help Lito Mendoza’s Bone Surgery

We are knocking to your kind hearts especially to family, friends and his former colleagues to extend help for our father Lito C. Mendoza who needs an immediate bone operation after an unfortunate motorcycle accident yesterday, June 22, 2020.

MEDICAL CONDITION

My Dad is suffering from hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease (stage 5), bleeding ulcer and gout. He is 64 years of age, retired and only relying on his SSS monthly pension for his daily needs and medications.

ACCIDENT

The accident happened on his way home coming from his dialysis session (scheduled ever monday and friday). Because there is no public transportation available due to covid 19, my father had to take "habal habal" (motorcycle) to and from the dialysis center in Sucat, Paranaque. The accident happened a few meters away from the house where he lives in San Antonio Valley 9, Paranaque. While travelling around 11am, the truck ahead of them suddenly stopped forcing the habal driver to apply a sudden break causing them to fall off the motorcycle. Luckily there was no vehicle behind them. He had a big wound on his knee and felt a little pain on his arm at first. He refuse to be brought to the hospital because of financial contraints so he just went home hoping the pain will subside after icing it. After a few hours, he felt severe pain thus prompting him to go to the hospital.

FINDINGS

According to the Ortho Doctor, his bone near his elbow was broken thus an immediate operation was recommended. Two metal bars will be implanted to connect his bones. He is now in great pain and cannot take strong pain killer because of his ulcer. Please see attached picture of his x-ray.

Our savings have been exhausted after not working for 3 months due to the lockdown. The habal driver, on the other hand, is just a scavenger (living in the squatters area) and was forced to be a habal driver to earn a living during lockdown. Nevertheless, he promised to help in anyway he can but will depend on his daily income as habal driver.

This pandemic has been very challenging for all of us and we are all trying to get back on our feet financially so any help will be very much appreciated. Please also pray for the healing of my Dad. We will also share the estimated amount needed once we get an update on the medical cost.
