This is Leo, a 5 year old German Shepard and he is the greatest dog in the world, my best friend and We need Your help!
It all started a few weeks ago when I noticed he was limping a bit when we were out for a walk. When we got home I had closer look at his foot and noticed he was a bit swollen around one his toenails. The next day I took him to the vet and after the exam he was prescribed with antibiotics treatment for seven days.
Unfortunately the treatment didn’t work, if anything he was even more swollen on his toe and was still limping. Back to the vet and this time she took a biopsy of the swollen tissue. A few days later the histopathology results came back and I got the devastating news - it was cancer, subungual melanoma. I have had many and long conversations with the vet and she explained to me that the cancer have not spread and that there is good chance for Leo to beat this awful decease with the right treatment.
Leo is now scheduled for surgery to have the cancer mass and surrounding tissue removed and this will follow with radiation therapy and vaccination.
Leo is a wonderful and loving dog and I can’t believe this is happening to him. Although I’m devastated about all this, I´m still very hopeful and confident he will make it through this and live many more happy years.
This is a very expensive procerure and treatment and I´m doing all in my power to save my best mate. Any contribution to the cost of Leo´s surgery and treatments, no matter how small, would be so very much appreciated.
THANK YOU so much for your help!
Funds will go to vet bills, ongoing treatments and aftercare.
If the goal is exceeded all remaining funds will go to support canine cancer research. Let´s find a way to beat this awful decease.
