WHO WE ARE?

Help us spread Yoga and Mindfulness in underprivileged communities in Lebanon!

“Koun”, a Lebanese NGO, came to life to make yoga accessible to those who need it but can’t access it, with the mission of promoting psychological well-being.

Sandy, founder of Koun, left her advertising job in 2015 and went to Bihar School of Yoga in India for 5 months to study yoga in depth. She goes to Bihar every year for progressive and intensive yoga training. She believes that yoga should be lived and not only practiced.

She’s been volunteering with different NGOs and communities since 2016. To bring all the communities she works with together and to make yoga sustainable, she established Koun in 2019.

WHAT WE DO?

We go to the camps by van and we teach in unequipped spaces; achieving our final goal will allow us to:

Get personal mats to the refugee kids in the camp of Tall Abbas, Akkar (around 50 kids)

Equip the camp in Akkar with basic material for yoga, such as carpets, cushions, blankets, incense, mindful coloring books for kids

Equip the Migrant Community Center with yoga mats and cushions

We pay to teach! The extra money will allow us to cover some transportation expenses. We currently offer 5 classes/week in different areas in Lebanon (Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar, Bekaa)

As a reward, you will get to experience the magical effect of meditation with Sandy!

Yoga changed Sandy’s life and she’s hoping to change the world using this practice.
