The past two years have been extremely challenging for my friend Keli -- her professional marketing job was relocated out of state, she had gastric surgery, both her knees replaced, and has only been able to secure short-term temp jobs.
She has not been choosy about her jobs: one was assistant / Girl Friday for a CEO with severe OCD and anger management issues. She worked at a movie theatre but having to be on her feet for long shifts was more than her new knees could handle. Her last job was a weekend position at the local Port Authority, but there weren’t enough hours.
During these jobs, she has downsized from a comfortable apartment to a tiny one and made as many life style changes as possible to be able to sustain herself and her beloved feline, Mugsy. Even so, with virtually no income, she has exhausted her retirement fund and has ended up in a severe depression which she is working very hard to overcome. She is now facing eviction and the real possibility of surrendering her cat, Mugsy once she is evicted. Homeless Shelters do not accept pets.
Let’s help her keep her tiny apartment and her feline companion while she applies for SSDI and is unable to work. With our help, she will be able to keep her apartment, keep Mr. Mugs, pull herself up, and continue getting the help she needs, and hopefully soon she will be able to get a job which allows her to utilize her skills and will compensate her enough so she can keep her tiny apartment, her furry friend, and continue to heal, both physically and emotionally.
We often give to Good Will, we buy Girl Scout Cookies, we give to The Salvation Army, we give to so many organizations, and we hope and we wonder if our donations are directly helping someone. If you help Keli, I assure you, you WILL be making a difference in helping to get a good, honest person back on her feet.
