Help Keep Raisin Alive

It is not easy for me to do this and it is not something I believe anyone would too unless we have no other alternative. For those who know me, you would have heard about my rescue dog, Raisin. Raisin was a malnutritioned, abused stray with cigarette burns and a dislocated hip, when I found him on the streets 10 years ago. He was so afraid of humans and kept trying to escape us despite his injuries. With the help of another kind hearted Samaritan, I managed to grab him and took him to the SPCA but was informed that he would be put to sleep if he was not adopted within 24 hours. I couldn’t risk that happening to him, so, I decided to adopt him . Pretty soon, Raisin became my world and we managed to rehabilitate him to become the most loving and affectionate dog that everyone who meets him can attest.

About a month ago, Raisin started having several episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. He lost all his appetite, couldn’t walk and kept drinking water. We rushed him to the vet and a blood test revealed that he is suffering from advanced renal failure. Raisin was put under emergency care and hospitalised. Right now, Raisin is back home with us but requires indefinite long term medical care of four times daily Intravenous injections, special renal diet and weekly vet visits for blood tests and catheter maintenance. He would have to continue with this treatment until his body shows signs of refusal and that’s when we will have to, let nature take its course. His current care is estimated to be $3500 - $4000 monthly but we feel that Raisin should be cared for as long as he has the willpower to live.

Without insurance coverage, I am not able to shoulder his hefty medical bills. His past month of medical treatment has already eaten into my savings and my work and earning capacity has been greatly compromised due to the round the clock care he requires. A few friends have suggested that I appeal to the goodness of Singaporeans to help Raisin and I am asking for any tiny help from any dog lover who can empathize what I am going through.
