My mom has battled and triumphed over countless adversities, She has gone through treatments and procedures since 2012 when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. She soldiered on even on her bad days, but on her good days, she either maximizes them by doing a week's worth of chores or by pulling me into one of her crazy ideas, which included dragging me and my dad at 3am to queue for the Avengers meet-and-greet at MBS. She then told me that that was a story she would want me to tell her future grandchildren, that at some point in our lives, we breathe the same air as Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch.

We've had our share of challenges, but what happened last April 4 was the worst. It was the only time that I ever thought that we could have lost her.

She was already feeling unwell earlier that day, I did my best to cheer her up just so she could ignore her discomfort, talking and watching a show usually helped her ease out of her funk. But not that day. As I stepped out of their bedroom to she called for me to take her to the ER. If you knew her, you would know that she wouldn't make such a request unless it was really, really, really bad.

I hurriedly got her changed, and did all I can to gather everything we needed without losing my mind. A lot of things were running through my head, but on top of it all, I was praying with all my might for God not to take her away from me, from us.

The security guard from our residence has kindly helped me call for a taxi, but when it was taking too long, he insisted that he was going to call an ambulance. I am glad and thankful that he did, I was no longer thinking straight.

I wasn't able to go with my mom, but had to painstakingly wait at the waiting room for a doctor or someone to let me know what was going on. After what seemed like an eternity, I was told that I got her there just in time, that time was of the essence in such situations. Apparently, that "situation" meant my mom had an acute stroke, and that she got there within the time frame wherein they could administer tPA.

She was then admitted to the hospital, something that she dreaded and feared. I finally got to see her after a few hours.

I am now humbly asking for your kindness and generosity. The hospital bill was for more than S$12,000, and we need to find a way to settle with those who have lent us the money to partially pay for it.

My mom has a long road ahead, and so do I. Your help would be very much appreciated. We would forever be grateful for your kindness.

Thank you and God bless you all.

Mom was given Alteplase (RTPA) upon her arrival in the ER. The doctor told me that my mom had an acute stroke and it had to be administered immediately to improve her chances of recovery and survival. Had she not received it, or had I not taken her to the
