FOXES is a Rock 'n' Roll men's fashion and music magazine based out of London and Los Angeles. Tina de la Celle and Julian de la Celle (that's me!) started this magazine together in November of 2015 as a solely digital publication. So, why did we start a magazine? Because there wasn't a magazine out there that perfectly blended our love for music and fashion and we knew we had stumbled upon something great! We would pick our favorite up and coming bands, as well as icons in both music and fashion, and then plan fashion editorials pulling brands such as Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, etc. We had no REAL experience in the fashion world, but we knew what we liked and what would attract people. So here we are a year later with TWO very successful printed issues behind us, and working on our third issue to be released in late April of 2017.
Past features include Placebo, The Kills, The Libertines, The Last Shadow Puppets, The Garden twins, Joshua Kane, SOKO, an exclusive editorial with A Child of the Jago, Swim Deep, TOY, and more.
If you hadn't guessed already, Tina and I are mother and son, so we integrate a family atmosphere into our working relationships with the top photographers, stylists, designers, models, musicians, and PR companies and we find it incredibly important to keep the magazine family and independently run. That's where we need YOUR help!
The cost of running a magazine is much higher than one would think. Before starting one myself I never even thought about everything that I now know goes into each issue. Here's a breakdown:
The cost of printing: Upwards of $15,000 per issue - this can go way up based on circulation!
The cost of distribution: We are lucky to have an amazing distributor that we pay an initial fee per issue and shipping and handling is taken care of. Personal send-outs however add up to quite a lot when sending to PR companies, fashion houses, and talent - around $1,500 per issue.
The cost of photographers, stylists and other crew/talent.
The cost of work related travel and other misc expenses.
The cost of launch parties: Upwards of $10,000.
With that said, every expense we've had to cover has been paid out of pocket or by the help we've had from family and friends. We don't want to bring on an investor that would want to change our vision of what FOXES Magazine means to us and our readers. This is our baby and we know that it's going to become of the biggest print publications available in the coming years.
*** On top of that, our current sales report shows that we jumped from an initial selling rate of 17% for our very first issue to a massive 45.5% on our second. We expect to just keep growing sales with each issue.
Because we care deeply about animal rights and specifically about the use of real fur, which we DO NOT condone, we will be donating 10% of every donation to Brian May's animal charity Save Me Trust to help ban the hunting of foxes and badgers for sport. Thank you for all of your support this year! Let's make 2017 even bigger!
