Organization of Local Communities Against Poverty (OLCAP) runs a community clinic that provides environmental and health education to parents and guardians who cannot afford safe housing in Kakamega, Kenya. Nonetheless, regular medical care and treatment for jigger parasites are needed for children already infested. Make a difference today by donating to help prevent and treat parasite infestation that robs children of nutrients, stunts growth, and results in poor academic performance.
OLCAP holds quarterly jigger eradication treatment events where over 2,000 people receive treatment for jigger infestation and shoes to help prevent re-infection. The organization also partners with schools which often request help in treating students infested with jiggers. OLCAP visits the schools on a regular basis to treat students in bad health condition as a result of jigger infestation. This is a big health problem that OLCAP needs help to eradicate.
Your donation will help to buy drugs for jigger infestation treatment, shoes to prevent re-infection and supplemental food for 2,000 children who are malnourished and have stunted growth.
To eradicate jiggers, children require proper footwear. A majority of jigger infested children come from poor families that cannot afford shoes. These children miss school as it becomes painful to walk barefoot while infested with jiggers. Your donation will help buy shoes for children to keep jiggers away.
For children living in poverty, it is common to go without food or have only one meal a day completely lacking protein, fruits, and vegetables. Besides, a child’s nutrition status is worsened if they are jigger parasite infested. Your donation will help to buy supplemental food and vitamins to assist a malnourished child to grow healthy and strong. OLCAP welcomes any donation. Thanks for your support.
