Help Katie Walk

Katie Byrne has Cerebral Palsy and has been accepted for an operation called selective dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) in St Louis USA which will hopefully allow her to walk independently following the operation and intensive physiotherapy sessions afterwards. She also requires orthopaedic surgery on both calf muscles and hamstrings to achieve the best possible outcome. She will get the orthopaedic surgery in St Louis Children’s hospital while we are there. 

The operation costs in the region of €60,000 and we need to fundraise to get her to there. 

 We understand this is a huge amount of money but to see Katie walk independently would be fantastic for her. It will give her so much more freedom and she will be less restricted to do normal things that you and I take for granted every day.

Raising € 60,000 won’t be an easy task and a lot of the locals in Cobh and our own family and friends in Dublin are already organising different fundraisers for her which gives us even more hope that she will get to St Louis for this operation. 

We are hoping you can see your way to helping us to raise the above amount for Katie to get her to America in whatever way you can .  We need to hold fundraisers by way of entertainment etc, should you have a suitable venue which we could use we can supply the entertainers but we can always use more. We will not be able to pay for the use of any venue, but we will gladly meet the overhead costs, and likewise for any GOOD entertainers.

Please do spread the word on this one, let us take this nationwide. There is a lot of work to be done, so please come on board and give us your best shot.
