Campaign Story
| My name is Kamva Ntutuka, I am a 22 year old, BSc Mathematical Statistics, undergraduate student at the University of Pretoria. I am from the small rural town of Lusikisiki, in the Eastern Cape, and my goal is to one day obtain my degree, work towards qualify as an actuary, and provide a better life for my family. My mother is an educator, and a single parent; she takes care of my 3 siblings and I, my nephew, and our 3 foster siblings, and she is the sole bread winner. She has tried her best, ever since we lost our father in 2017, but she is still unable to pay for my university fees. I have started this crowdfunding account with the aim of raising enough money to cover my tuition and residence fees for the 2019 academic year (about R104 000). I would also like to raise enough money to cover the registration fees, and a portion of the my tuition, for the 2020 academic year. |
2019 has been a difficult year, but that difficulty has been worsened by my inability to pay for my fees before the university’s deadline. This inability has led to my academic transcript being withheld by the university. Withheld results make it very difficult to apply for bursaries, as most potential sponsors want the latest transcript as a basic requirement.
On at least two separate occasions , in 2019, I was unable to go past a particular round of selection due to an unavailable transcript. It is such an unfortunate loop as no fees means no transcript, and no transcript makes it difficult to apply for an funding that could possibly pay of my balance.
My current student balance sits at R103790.31, which should have been paid by June 2019, according to the university’s policy. This unpaid balance has put me at the risk of being financially excluded, and has already resulted in a notice from the university that my accommodation may be cancelled soon, if not already.
All raised funds will go towards covering my 2019 due balance, and in the case of the target being exceeded, the excess funds will help cover my tution fees for the 2020 academic year, as I still do not have a bursary
