Hello and welcome my GoGetFunding page!
Let me to introduce myself and share my story with you! I am really grateful for reading this lines and I would like to say thank you in advance for your attention!
I am Juli, a 21 years old girl from Hungary, a small, developing country in Middle Europe. I study psychology at Eotvos Lorand University and I have got an A level BA degree in this summer. Although I enjoyed the years spent at BA course, I did not feel that I could flourish. Since my personal aim is to do my best and serve others at the highest level I am able to, I decided to make some change in my education. In order to change, I have applied for the Clinical Mental Health Sciences MSc course at UCL. Fortunately -and this is why I am here- I got an offer, so I could start my course in September, 2019!
When I got my offer letter, I was on cloud nine - however, I also had to realize the financial opportunities of my family and these are - telling the truth- truly limited comparing with costs of studying abroad. :( My parents always pursuit to give everything for me and for my two younger sisters, but teachers are not well-paid in Hungary (my tuition fees and living costs cost three years income of my parents). :( I plan to take a student loan in order to cover my tuition fees, but the highest level of student loan can cover the fees in part and I will have to pay my living cost too.
Why do you help me?
Well, I wanted to deal with people since I was 12 years old, and I have been preparing for being a psychologist for 6 years. Every time, I lost my motivation to study or I was disappointed, I made me remember that I would help people in my future, and I got my inspiration and my power back. I was so determined, that I took as many extracurricular activities during my BA course as was possible : I was a member of the Saint Ignatius Jesuit College for Advanced Studies, I worked as teacher assistant, I was the member of the student peer-counselling group and I volunteered in order to develop underprivileged children in my country. Beside of these, I strived for taking part in psychological researches which helped me a lot to form my specific interest. Now, I am doing a research on how spirituality, well-being and depression connect to each others. I use the Open Science Framework for my researches , and I am planning to do so in my future too. It means, that my data are accessible for other researches and my methodology can be revised by others.
My current aim is to investigate how can we cure depression and anxiety and after this, how can we develop one's well-being and happiness. This course can give me the appropriate and up-to-date knowledge to do this. The extensive academic network of the university can give me the opportunity to continue my researches and find my specific PhD. topic. These are things which are hard to gain from a small country and without this training at UCL -perhaps- I will never get.
Please, help me keep on this track!
Thank you in advance:
