Hi! My name is Kaone, and I thank you for visiting this fundraising page. I’ve spent the last couple of months couch surfing and traveling with purpose in East Africa. To this end, I have met many amazing people and listened to great stories, but none has moved me so profoundly as Judith’s story has.

Judith Adhiambo is a 42-year old single mother of 11 kids who lives in an abandoned house in Kisumu County, Kenya. As an ad-hoc janitor, I first met her when she had come to clean my host’s poultry house. She struck me as a benevolent and hardworking person, but it wasn’t until my host told me about her struggles that I began to appreciate the depths of her resilience. As is custom tradition for most Christian believers, I invited her for the morning devotion, to which she gladly accepted.

During our prayer, she opened up about her challenges; Judith is raising 11 children single-handedly with no support at all from her estranged partner. She lives off odd jobs in different homes, but this is barely enough, and so, five of her kids have had to bear the painful brunt of missing school due to defaulting on school fees. In addition, she has faced multiple evictions and currently lives in an abandoned house under very deplorable conditions with her children.

I also learned about her fears; among many, her greatest fear is that she may be kicked out of this house anytime by whoever owns it. To a great extent too, she also fears that she may fail her children if she does not raise enough funds to keep them in school. She is undeniably a very strong and hardworking mother, but sometimes even the strongest people need help. With this gogetfunding page, I hope to help Judith achieve the following:

1. Pay her children’s school fees and buy uniforms and any other essentials so they can stay in school

2. Get a decent home to raise her children

3. Set up a small business (she has thought about selling cooked food) to pay rent and any other maintenance-related expenses

Unfortunately, Judith did not attain a good level of education to qualify for a decent job, but with a business alongside her temporary jobs, she may be able to give her and her kids a new lease on life. None of these ambitions would be possible without a small act of kindness in the form of contributions from anyone learning about Judith through this page. Her top priority is to get her children back to school. On her behalf, I ask that you contribute whatever you can afford and share her story with your networks.

Tyler Perry once said there are people whose lives are tied to our dreams. I couldn't agree more with this statement; Judith’s story is a scar on the conscience of any moral person. Thank you for any donation that you can make, big or small. Your contribution will help Judith and her kids. I promise to circle back with updates about the fundraising and changes to Judith’s wellbeing.
